Double Digit NASDAQ Stock Winners: CUEN, BRQS, VTNR

Following are major stock gainers on Nasdaq in Wednesday ‘s trading session:

Cuentas Inc. (NASDAQ:CUEN) was the active stock gainer on Wednesday . The stock soared 123% to close $6.22. TelcoDR has picked WaveMax Corporation, the creator of the world’s first shared WiFi network, as part of their most innovative mobile technologies display at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (Booth #1242 West). WaveMAX will give a first peek of the world’s first WiFi6-5G shared network, which will deploy in New York soon.

However, Cuentas has agreed to put out SharedFi in 170 test locations around the New York City-Tristate area. If the six-month trial goes well, the partners aim to open 1,000 more “Bodega Stores” in a 50/50 joint venture. The customers will benefit from the service by being immediately connected to WiFi6 high-speed internet and receiving unique in-store deals while in the Bodega shop. Users will also enjoy discounts on items sold through the Cuentas Mobile App and promotions for the Cuentas GPR card.

Borqs Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:BRQS) was another notable winner as the stock went up 46% to end the session at $1.45. Recently, the company announced that it has started the delivery of cellular CTA-2045 EcoPort products to SkyCentrics. These units are being used by utility companies in grid interactive water heater programs in the states of Colorado and California. Michigan is following suit and recently announced request for quotations to acquire similar products.

Vertex Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ:VTNR) surged 29% to $13.23 after the company announced that it has come to an agreement to divest its oil recycling division for $140 million. Vertex said it will sell its used motor oil collection and recycling business to Safety-Kleen, a division of environmental and industrial services company Clean Harbors (NYSE:CLH). The assets included in the agreement collectively generated $4.5 million in operating income in the first quarter of 2021, and will be sold to Safety-Kleen for $140 million in cash.

The divestiture isn’t the only transformational move Vertex has made in the past month. Investors cheered when Vertex announced it will be buying a refinery in Alabama from Royal Dutch Shell. Shares have soared about 600% since that May 26 announcement.
