TSX opens lower as mining stocks decline

(Reuters) – Canada’s main stock index opened slightly lower on Thursday as mining shares dragged, while higher chances of U.S. rate cut next month kept overall losses in check.

At 9:31 a.m. ET (13:31 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index was down 38.38 points, or 0.12%, at 23,083.45.
